Car, Coffee and Horse Country

Take a short drive north of Orlando and you arrive in what is known as “Horse Country”. Equine farms and ranches dot the countryside and provide Marion County and specifically Ocala, a rich heritage of fast, four legged steeds that are recognized at turf tracks throughout the country.

C&CThere is another heritage that is being cultivated in Ocala on the first Sunday of each month; Ocala Cars and Coffee. This early morning gathering of car enthusiasts began 25 months ago by local businessman, Steve Woodall, owner of “icandy Designz”, an event sponsor. Drawing on the local car/truck/motorcyle community, the growth in attendance has been steady with an average monthly attendance of 130-150 participants. A diverse collection of classic, muscle, imports, exotics and modern muscle vehicles intermingle within the K-Mart parking lot on St. Rt. 40 from 8am-11am.

The laid back atmosphere offers young and old in attendance the opportunity to interact with the vehicle owners and share time sipping their favorite beverage in the morning. The Chelsea Coffee Company is on hand with both hot and cold coffee, while also providing sodas, water and various other drinks. “Mmmpa Lumpia” food truck serves up some seriously good breakfast eats to the early risers as well as those not so early risers. Once you have had your fill, stroll over to the Modern Muscle Cars and Jeeps display, another event sponsor, that brings a variety of fast cars and trucks for sale on site and at their showroom in Ocala.

While it may be a bit of a early departure for those not local to Ocala, the relaxing countryside drive to and from this event is worth stretching your normal car driving boundaries. You never know, you may get challanged to an alternate horsepower exhibition.
